We stayed another day in Vic Falls so we could do some other stuff - a quick visit to see a very nice (and very small doctor) who kindly gave me a prescription for some more medicines - then to a pharmacy in one of Vic Falls major hotels (the Kingdom - seems to also be a casino, but no-one was around - the hotel is trying to imitate "Great Zimbabwe" ruins), the image is great until you look just a little deeper - lots of little things that just don't work, then coffee by the pool (although the service was slightly odd - they didn't seem able to supply coffee), then off to the "Craft Market" for Sue to do some shopping - it wasn't even possible to approach the place without being hassled by touts etc - we decided not to bother - a shame for the genuine vendors, but Vic Falls has got to clamp down on these people.
In the afternoon we went for "high tea" at the Vic Falls Hotel - very grand, very well done, bit of a shame about the antics of some of the European tourist groups around though. The foyer is full of interesting photos of Vic Falls from the early part of the 20th century plus some giant stuffed eland heads. On the way there we called into a "craft shop" for Sue to do some lower-hassle shopping which she succeeded in doing.
That evening we chatted to our campsite neighbour and then went to see a "traditional singing" performance that was being put on for a tour bus group staying on the campsite. Fabulous harmonics.
Vic Falls is getting a major spruce-up at the moment - something to do with a UN convention in a couple of weeks (UNWTO) - there are people litter-picking, signs are being repainted, roads mended etc......
