Oil. How difficult can it be?
You'd be surprised - as diesel quality is low in much of Africa, normal European lubricants wouldn't last very long. I've got a barrel of special engine oil winging its way to me now ready for an oil service next week.
Gearbox oil is another matter - the truck manual gives an out of date spec which seems to be based around it's ex-military origins. After days of deliberation and questions on various forums I've plumped for a modern very-high-spec (and very high cost) oil and (hopefully) a barrel should be appearing soon too.
Yet another oil type is needed for the diffs and most importantly the portal axles. This is still to be ordered.
Time to get the carnet de passage organised via the RAC while I wait for this lot to arrive.
Yesterday I fitted additional "secret" locks to both sides of the garage area for shipping/parking in dodgy areas. I also removed the awning and improved the mountings (a job that's been on my "to-do list" for too long).
