We had a noisy night as it rained hard and the wind got up and whistled around our windows. The sea was crashing about too: in fact I started to wonder whether we would be washed away, the breakers were so close to the truck. In the morning the weather was too horrible to do much, so we decided to sit tight and do some planning, catch up with emails, bank accounts etc. then around lunchtime the rain eased and we went off for one of our famous "short strolls". This time we took the board walk hanging on the edge of the cliff, through rainforest with musical frogs, up and down steep steps until we got to the suspension bridge over the river mouth itself. By this time it had started raining again, so the fact that the sea spray was flying high made no difference to us. The view was spectacular. With all the rain, the river was flowing fast and brown with lots of foam and the waves were rushing in to meet it. We stepped tentatively onto the bridge but soon realised that it was pretty solid and we enjoyed standing poised over the rushing water, seeing it crash onto the rocks. Very dramatic indeed! Got a bit fed up walking back to the truck into the driving rain and now have the classic camping scenario with damp stuff hanging everywhere. Still, there is a nice bottle of chenin blanc chilling in the fridge, so all is well! S.
