Up early and we went for another walk around the lagoon in the cool of the morning. We saw a few lechwe wading out into the lagoon to feed, yet more fish eagles and a few other birds, but nothing really special. This place really seems to be on its last legs - few animals, fewer visitors, obviously demotivated staff.....
We decided to cut our losses and return to Monze - another few hours of gruelling dirt roads - the last one into town being the worst - at the start of the road is a sign proudly announcing the maintenance contractors for this stretch of road - a Chinese company - they really should be ashamed to be associated with such a stretch of road that has obviously not had any maintenance work done on it for a very long time.
The campsite here is excellent, we will probably stay for 2 nights, the benefits from the campsite all go to an on-site clinic and a Womens collective - Sue is quite keen on visiting it tomorrow.
