Off early as not much to keep us in Kericho - the Tea Hotel is frankly depressing to see the dilapidation setting in. A soapstone vendor arrived as we started the engine, Sue immediately spotted a nice carved rhino and bought it. The journey was very scenic, initially through orderly-looking tea plantations with workers out picking. There are miles and miles of these plantations - all of this would have been forest, it's all been ripped up to allow us to drink tea. Further from Kericho, as we climbed yet higher, the tea gave way to mixed planting with smaller fields, a lot of good looking vegetables for sale by the roadside.
We made good time to Lake Naivasha in spite of the slow lorries struggling up and down the steep hills, we're back at Carnelly's which is on the lakeside - we stayed here last year when Sue was ill and must be one of our favourite camspites in Africa - peaceful, lovely views over the lake, lots of birds, colobus monkeys, well run. BUT - it's the weekend and early afternoon a Dutch(?) family arrived from Nairobi with their young children - intending to have a childrens party on the campsite the next day. Hmmm. A nice grouo of young asians also arrived and camped close by - very freindly. We retreated to the bar/restaurant for a drink watching the birds on the feeders and returned later for dinner - they do huge pizzas from a pizza oven!
