We had a good night's sleep thanks to the new fans we fitted this time around, it was hot at Kimana, but by 7am it was cool. We had breakfast outside only to be interrupted by a young Masai man who invited us to a wedding ceremony. Apparently it would be "free" but we've experienced this particular group at Kimana before so declined as we would be in the park by the time it was to take place.
we did a few jobs around the truck in the cool of the morning, Kimana is definitely less relaxing than previously,, Kibo Camp next door has created a large rubbish pile/dump close to Kimana, this seems to have attracted flies, crows and Maribou stork (and probably other scavengers too).. There is a good deal of lethargic construction work going on and we found out by dropping the iPad that the soil has a good deal of iron filings in it!
After lunch we headed off to Amboseli, as we've were leaving the camp we spotted four long-tailed paradise whydahs in a tree - a good omen! Just at the entrance to the park there were three big tuskers wandering about - the entrance formalities were done inside the office this time! We had a great afternoon seeing a good amount of birds and mammals. The rains have continued quite late this year and the park is very green and attractive. In the dry areas twisters were still forming though, taking their load of dust skywards.
