Off to Kingsway tyres in Karen where we bought a new spare a couple of years ago (and the staff remembered us) - yes they can supply them (only 15 left in stock compared with the 125 last time) - but we will have to go to their main branch in the Industrial Area to get one fitted. We paid a small fortune, went to Carrefour to check out what is available (a very good range) as Nakumatt have gone bust and then had lunch at the lodge before heading into town for the tyres.
The head offfice is in a very grimy part of town, but just down the road from the main Michelin depot where I had to go to sign for the tyres - I'm glad that they had this strange process as it meant that I could select exactly which tyres I was given - I chose two with December 2016 manufacture dates as these were the freshest available. Kingsway have proper tyre fitting equipment - no lump hammers here - and fully capable of doing truck size tyres - in fact the manager came out and explained that they sometimes do hundreds in a day when they change tyres for importers of trucks.
Dinner at the lodge - we overheard some young "volunteers" explaining the good work they had been doing - digging fence post holes to fence in areas of the Masai Mara..... Alarming and incredulous.
